Congratulations on your new tattoo! Noémi wants to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and safely. Please follow these gentle and caring guidelines for your aftercare.
Minimising infection risk guidance tips and gentle – caring guide for your new tattoo:
Day 1:
Get home safe, eat well and get plenty of rest. Your skin is healing, so please be mindful. You can sleep with the folia covering your tattoo; I’ve ensured it’s protected. Just make sure to remove and change the folia in the morning.
If the folia moves, gets damaged, or if there’s excess liquid underneath, remove the plastic wrap and follow these instructions carefully.
Before you touch the tattooed area – Thoroughly wash your hands.
Rinse your tattoo with clean, lukewarm water.
Wash it with antibacterial soap or foam
Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel
Apply thin layer of tattoo cream
Re-wrap your tattoo with plastic wrap.
Rest and relax.
Day 2:
It’s essential to keep your tattooed skin clean and apply the tattooed skincare cream at least twice a day. Since your skin is still healing and sensitive, consider re-wrapping it. For optimal healing, it’s advisable to sleep with the folia on for 2-3 nights. Your dedication to proper aftercare is truly appreciated.

Remember:
Getting a new tattoo involves breaking the skin surface so there is always a potential risk for infection to occur afterwards. Your tattoo should be treated as a wound initially it is important that this advice is followed so that the infection risk can be minimised.
- Your tattoo will consist of an area of tiny skin breaks, caused by the tattooing needles, so it should be kept covered with sterile, medical grade, non-adhesive gauze which is then secured with hypo-allergenic tape. Gauze permits ventilation and aids healing. Dressing, applied by the artist can be removed afterwards for at least 3-5 hour. This dressing is only intended to get you home without the treated area catching on clothing, or being exposes to the air. The dressing will also help to stop bleeding/fluid oozing, but should be removed before it dries onto the treated area ( latest next day in the morning).
- Always wash and dry your hands before and after handling your new tattoo.
- Avoid unnecessary touching, scratching, or picking of the tattoo site to reduce infection risk.
- Avoid unnecessary touching, scratching or picking of the new tattoo site to reduce the risk of introducing infection
- DO NOT RUB the skin, as it can cause irritation and hinder the healing process.
- If possible, shower rather than bathe whilst the tattoo is healing so that unnecessary water exposure is prevented.
- Do not use skin products on the treated area, they are not intended for open wound healing. You may apply anti-bacterial moisturising cream 2-3 times a day to assist healing and prevent skin cracking, but avoid petroleum based creams as they may affect the colour of the treated area.
- After approximately two weeks, any scabbing should have gone and been replaced with new, intact skin. The area should be completely healed in a further 10-14 days.
- Avoid swimming, solariums, sunbeds and sun bathing until your new tattoo healed, as direct UV/sun light/chlorine can interact with tattoo dye pigments causing skin irritation and inflammation. In future always apply SPF 40+ to keep your tattoo bright and fresh for many years.
- Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours following the tattoo!
- Try to wear loose, cotton clothing to minimise rubbing and irritation to a new tattoo site.
- Always keep the new tattoo covered and protected if working in a dirty/dusty/oily environment
If you have any problems/queries, signs of infections (pus, redness and swelling) or increased bleeding at the tattoo site, the tattoo artist should be contacted immediately. We will refer you onto your GP if there are signs of adverse reactions.
